How We Started

Formed in 1995, the Ithaca Singles Group (ISG) officially registered in New York State as a not-for-profit organization in June of 1997. Our mission was to create a network of friendship and support for single community members in Ithaca, including single parents. We offer a variety of activities and events for our members within a positive atmosphere of mutual support. 

ISG welcomes all single adults regardless of age, belief systems, race, color, abilities, sexual orientation, or national origin.

What We Do Together

        ● Weekly dinners at local restaurants
​        ● Parties - Superbowl, Halloween, mid-life crisis, Caribbean, to name a few 
​        ● Cayuga Lake boating and kayaking adventures
​        ● Picnics and potlucks 
​        ● Lunches at wineries
​        ● Pottery classes
​        ● Trips to places like the Corning Museum of Glass, Cape May, or NYC
​        ● Impromptu meetups to take walks, go to movies, get together for coffee
​        ● ​Dancing at local live music performances

​We also support each other in many ways such as offering a ride when needed, helping plant a
garden, visiting a member in the hospital, taking in a member’s mail while they are on a trip.
Friends helping friends; we are there for each other.

What does all this mean? It means we are a group of people who like to be active and enjoy life with others. We go on new adventures and invite new experiences that we might not undertake alone. We lend a helping hand if someone needs a little help. We make new friends.
